One fixed price, set before you pay
The assessment is free. It scores the case on what actually makes crypto work slow and quotes one of four prices. You read the scope first, and nothing is charged until you accept.

$0- Every source inventoried
- Unusual activity sampled and tested
- Preliminary findings you can read
- A written scope and a fixed quote
- Score 0–19
Basic
$299A few wallets, one filing year, activity Docket’s tools already handle.
- Score 20–39
Standard
$499More sources or years, some bridging, a handful of DeFi positions.
- Score 40–59
Complex
$749Many wallets and chains, DeFi apps that need fresh research, gaps in the history.
- Score 60+
Forensic
$999Large, messy histories: missing records, unclear ownership, heavy cross-chain activity.
What moves the score: extra filing years, the number of wallets, exchanges and chains, bridging, protocols without a ready tool, missing history, and unclear ownership. Repetitive activity Docket already handles, and records that reconcile cleanly, bring it down.
What Docket won’t do
- Ask for a seed phrase or private key. Or anything else that can move your funds.
- File or sign your return. A tax professional does that.
- Fill a gap with a guess. A missing fact becomes a question or an open item.
- Pick your tax positions. It sets out the supportable options and what each one changes.
How your records are handled
- Each case runs in its own isolated workspace with no open internet access.
- Provider keys never enter it. The investigation gets short-lived access scoped to one case.
- Two-factor authentication on every account.
- Approved workpaper versions are hashed and locked.
- Your records are never used to train AI models.
Questions people ask first
No. Docket investigates and prepares workpapers. A qualified tax professional reviews them, chooses the tax positions, and prepares or files the return. Docket isn’t a CPA firm and doesn’t give legal advice.
Ethereum and other EVM chains get the deepest treatment, backed by Docket’s own Ethereum archive nodes. Other chains and exchanges are worked from exports and public data. The free assessment tells you how well your particular history is covered before you pay anything.
No. Upload the exports your exchanges already provide. Docket never asks for passwords, trading or withdrawal API keys, seed phrases, or private keys.
As long as the history needs. Docket doesn’t cut work short to hit a clock. Your quote includes an estimated delivery, and your workspace shows what the investigator is working on while it runs.
It says so. Anything the evidence can’t settle either becomes a question for you or is listed as an open item, with what would resolve it and how much it could change the result.
A workpaper package: the transaction ledger, Form 8949 and Schedule D files, TurboTax and TaxAct imports, income and fee schedules, a Form 1099-DA reconciliation for 2025 onward, and a PDF audit binder that ties each figure to its evidence.
Firms get a shared workspace with preparer and reviewer roles. If you’re an individual, download the package and hand it to your preparer. Everything they need to check the work is inside it.
People in your workspace, and Docket staff when they’re supporting your case. Records are processed to do your case and are never used to train AI models. The privacy policy and subprocessor list have the details.
